May 23, 2012
SALEM, Ore. -- The second day of the of the NAIA National Championships held at the Creekside Golf Course in Salem, Oregon, showed a much steadier and more relaxed Thane Ringler as the lone Mustang carded a two-over par 74, tying him for 19th place at five-over 149.
Ringler’s second round was highlighted by an eagle on the 13th hole after he double-bogeyed the 12th. He finished the afternoon with a birdie on the 18th, his third of the round.
“(Thane) is striking the ball very well and I think we just need to stay patient with it to be there in the mix at the end,” reported Coach Jason Semelsberger. “He has responded well to adversity in both rounds so we're hoping to get it going tomorrow to gain some momentum going into the last round. Overall, I think he is pleased with his play, but knows his best is still to come.”
Ringler's third round on Thursday will start with a 2:10 PM tee time.
