NAIA Men's Golf National Championship Recap: Day 1

May 23, 2012

SALEM, Ore.-- Despite being the lone member of TMC’s golf squad to compete in the in the first round of the NAIA National Championship held at the Creekside Golf Course in Salem, Oregon, the Mustangs were well represented by Thane Ringler who finished the day with a three-over par 75.

Starting off the day poorly by shooting five-over over the first three holes, Ringler responded beautifully by making three birdies and some solid pars through the 12th hole.

Unfortunately, Ringler would then double bogey after a poor swing with three putts to follow.

Ringler’s resilience shone through over the final six holes as the standout junior responded with four pars. Ringler’s efforts on day one of the four-day event secured a tie for 27th place. Play will resume Wednesday, May 23, in a 12:30 pm tee time.
