PRIMM, NV -- The TMC golf squad battled inclement weather, finishing ninth out of 16 teams at the Battle at Primm on March 25-27 in Primm, Nevada. Representing the Mustangs in the event's top 20 was the duo of Thane Ringler and Daniel Mothershead.

Sophomore Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) paced the Mustangs with an even-par 216 over the three-day event, finishing in a tie for eighth place out of 81 golfers.  His six-under 66 on the second day of competition was the event's best single-round score.  Senior Daniel Mothershead (Canyon Country, CA) finished three spots behind, posting a one-over 217.

Commenting on the team's performance, Mustang coach Jason Semelsberger stated, “We did not respond well to the cold and wind to begin our first round and put ourselves in a difficult spot to come back.  However, I was very proud of how we rallied back in the second round and very encouraged to see us finish aggressively with the foot on the accelerator.  I believe that will be very important going into our last three events as we learn by experience how to close tournaments well.”

Further commenting and commending the Mustangs efforts, Semelsberger stated “Above all else, I was proud of how our guys carried themselves in competition and reflected a strong testimony to their faith in Christ.  It was clear that golf is not their identity and that, ultimately, we play to bring glory to Him.”

After a weeks' rest, the Mustangs will take to the links again April 8-10 in the NAIA Brickyard Classic at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis, Indiana.
