Golf-Semeslberger Roster 2011 Head Coach Jason Semelsberger

B.A. Environmental Studies; UCLA, 2001

Jason Semelsberger enters his 6th year at the helm of The Master's College's men's golf team. A native of the Santa Clarita Valley, Semelsberger is a Hart High graduate who won the California State Junior Amateur Championship in back to back years (1995,1996) before continuing on to an outstanding college career at UCLA.

During his time as a Bruin (1996-2001), Semelsberger continued to collect accolades. In addition to winning two NCAA collegiate events, he was also selected for All Pac-10 Honorable Mention Honors, and qualified and competed in the 1997 United States Open Championship at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, MD.

Turning professional in 2002, Semelsberger played on the NGA Hooters Tour for two seasons and competed in the PGA Tour Qualifying School for five years. In 2005 he switched gears, becoming a professional golf instructor at Lakeside Golf Club and Valencia Country Club until 2007.

Coach Semelsberger accepted the Head Coach position in 2007 at TMC where he also works as an Academic Counselor for the Center for Professional Studies.  During his tenure here at TMC, Semelsberger has earned 2010 NCCAA Coach of the Year along with leading the Mustangs back to the 2011 NAIA National Championship where the team finished T-12th.

Coach Semelsberger on his relationship with Jesus:
"The Lord is my only hope, refuge, strength and stronghold. He is the only way to know God and all of His ways are truth and perfection. I have a sincere desire to be more like Him and less like myself each day. I am so grateful for His love, His wisdom, and His grace. There is nothing I can do to thank Him enough or ever repay Him for what He has done for me. Every breath and every moment is a gift He has given me to serve Him and do His will."

More on Coach Semelsberger:
Loves college basketball and can tell you about every player on his favorite college and pro teams- UCLA and the L.A. Lakers...Has an innate ability to do impressions including Sean Connery and Batman...Likes trips to the beach and to the mountains to ski in the winters because in both places he feels "small, calm, and I just marvel at God's majesty."

Of his position as coach for TMC he says, "I love coaching the team and having an opportunity to use my experience in golf to help players with their games and to hopefully encourage them in their walks with Christ. I believe I can really help players who desire to go on to the next level of professional golf since I have been blessed to play at that level myself. Our desire is to have a Division I level program at a small, private Christian college".
