For TMC's Distance Track Team, the Westmont Invitational came at the end of a big work week. The low-key event was used as a training day rather than a big event with all the pre-race preparation that would go with a notable race. With coaches and athletes alike knowing that the competition would be used as a practice, there were no expectations for record-breaking times.
In spite of the week's training, there were still several noteworthy performances. Matthew Crichton, freshman from Saddleback Valley Christian, debuted in the 3000m Steeple Chase Friday night, posting a time of 9:56; teammate Nathan Seyler also opened with his first Steeple of the season, running 9:59.
The Mustang Men are confident that the "training day" at Westmont will help them as they continue the climb toward the Mt. Sac race with their next meet at Pomona on April 9th.
