Running To All-American Honors
Following strong performances at the national championships this past Saturday, three members of The Master’s College cross country teams have been named NAIA All-Americans.
Holly Kopp, who paced the women’s squad to a best-ever tenth-place finish, became the first women’s runner in program history to earn postseason honors. Capping off a sparkling sophomore season, Kopp posted a time of 18:23 over the 5K course at the Ft. Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington, to finish 23rd.
On the men’s side, it was the familiar dynamic duo of John Gilbertson and Anthony Pizzo that forged a 10th-place showing for the Mustangs. The juniors, who are repeat performers from last year’s All-American team, finished third and fifth, respectively. Gilbertson completed the 8K course in 24:03 while Pizzo was just seven seconds behind.
