The Pomona-Pitzer Invitational was just one more step in the progression towards the end of the season for Mustang Track and Field. Saturday, the Men's quad competed in their final meet before the GSAC Championships scheduled to take place the last weekend of April. Leading the way for the TMC men, Anthony Pizzo raced the 1500m, finishing 3rd in his heat with a time of 4:57. Pizzo is looking sharp and ready for a big performance in the 5000m this Friday, April 17th, at Mt. Sac; Pizzo was the only member of the men's team to be accepted into the highly competitive meet.
Freshman Matthew Crichton had an outstanding performance in the 3000m Steeplechase; this only the second steeple of his career. In spite of a hard fall over the water jump, Crichton managed to recover, running a very tough race and posting a personal best of 9:43. Crichton was just 13 seconds off a national qualifying mark, and will be looking to hit his mark at the GSAC Championships, just a few weeks away. Crichton now holds the new school record in the 3000m steeplechase, a record previously held by teammate Nathan Seyler, who finished just seconds behind Crichton Saturday with a time of 9:49.
