Hurd Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 224 men’s cross country student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Of the 224 harriers, senior runner John Hurd (Fairview, PA) represents The Master’s College men’s cross country team on the scholar-athlete list.
On Saturday, Hurd finished in 92nd-place at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship race in 25 minutes and 48.96 seconds. The 15th-ranked Mustangs tallied 450 points in the 8K race Saturday with a combined time of 2:10:18.12.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
