Men's Basketball Goes Across The Pond To Ink Paul

June 9, 2014

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- First-year men's basketball coach Ken Sugarman extended his recruiting tentacles on Friday, signing Nick Paul from London, England.

Paul 4.jpgPaul may have been born across the pond, but he's played all of his competitive basketball in the states, including collegiate stops at Central Georgia Technical College and Bethel University in Tennessee.

Asked why he chose to transfer to The Master's, the junior stated, "I chose TMC because I strongly believe God blesses those who put him first.  The Master's missions statement and core values display this.  This is why it's my first choice.

I'm thankful for this huge opportunity to be given the chance to push myself to new levels academically, physically, and, most importantly, spiritually."

The 6-6 swingman spent one year at Bethel where he hit 54% of his shots from the field.  He poured in a season-high 14 points in his Wildcat debut against Fisk (TN) on November 5, 2013.

Paul played his prep ball at Dominion Christian High School in Marietta, Georgia, where he was a GISA (Georgia Independent School Association) All-Region 1AAA performer in 2009 and was selected to play in the Cobb County All-Star Game. During this time, Paul averaged 13.2 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocked shots per game.

On Paul's signing, Sugarman commented, "Nick is an exceptional athlete with a high-revving motor.  His shot-blocking and ability to guard multiple positions will be a big asset for us on the defensive end.  He's a relentless rebounder who will help ignite our fast break and keep many scoring opportunities alive on the offensive end.

Nick will excel in the open court and should be a crowd favorite with his above-the-rim play.  His maturity and experience should be a real asset to our team.  I really appreciate his character and willingness to work hard  to pursue excellence.  He is a great addition to the Mustang family and I can't wait to see how God will grow him this year."
