2011: Very athletic first-year player will see most of his
playing time as a late-game, defensive specialist and as a courtesy
runner…good speed will make him a valuable contributor…in the
outfield, he gets excellent jumps on the ball and possesses a fine
arm…uses his speed at the plate, too, bunting with precision or
pounding the ball into the ground.
Byrd HS: A three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, playing
right field his first two years and first base in his senior
season…the club qualified for the postseason in each of those
years, highlighted by a state semi-final appearance in 2009…a year
later, the Jackets won the 5A District title and made the
quarterfinals of the state tournament…during his three prep years,
he hit a combined .348 with a .439 on-base percentage…stole 33
bases, scored 78 runs, and drove in 86 more…as a senior, he was
named first-team All-5A District at first base and all-city
honorable mention. |
