With a traditional background in the arts, John used his talents to paint, silkscreen and print for local and corporate clients. In 1992, he became a pre-press proofer and operator at the world’s largest printing company, Bertlesmann. Professor Rose continued his education in the graphics world and with the help of the Graphics Arts Technical Foundation, John began to learn the emerging technology of Desktop Publishing. That was the best environment for john to learn in and he took his experience to the end of his training when he received a certificate from GATF in his department. He worked briefly for the office furniture shop designing custom offices for executives, and later was hired by Baylor Entertainment to be the Art Director on a small production film. With the suggestion of his wife, he answered a request to teach Desktop Publishing in 1996 at a small private school in Northridge. From there, Professor Rose taught a variety of classes which included many popular applications for computer graphics, film, animation, desktop publishing and 3D animation. Professor Rose had his first book published in 2003, written on a program used widely in the film industry for special effects and animation. Direct Approach: Maya was John’s first attempt at writing and the follow up version. Professor Rose hopes to share his experience from the industry to help students to get started in film, television or for personal growth.
