Audition deadline for 2010-2011 has passed. Scholarship Application Guidelines:
1. Complete and turn in the
Music Scholarship Application.
2. Complete an application with the Financial Aid Office by contacting them at ext. 3393 or by clicking
HERE to visit their website.
3. Contact the Music Department (ext. 3190) to schedule your audition time.
AuditionsYour audition will include:
-a live performance for selected music faculty
-a music theory placement exam
-scales and sight reading may also be assessed
Audition Requirements:
Prepare appropriate selections in accordance with the following requirements:
Piano/Organ two memorized selections from Classical piano or organ literature highlighting composers of different stylistic periods (ex: Bach, Chopin, or Beethoven)
Voice two memorized Classical pieces, either foreign language art songs or arias such as those in the
26 Italian Songs and Arias book or something comparable, and/or sacred oratorio or a sacred classical piece *Gospel/contemporary Christian music is not preferred.
Instrument two Classical solo pieces that demonstrate musicianship and technical skills
-If you require an accompanist
, please inform us of your song titles or send/fax your music to the Music Office two weeks prior to your audition date, and we will provide a staff accompanist. You will be able to rehearse with the accompanist before your audition.
-You may wish to consult a teacher in helping you make a selection that best demonstrates your musical ability.
-Attire should refelct the seriousness of the audition process.
